Clara Ceramics

Israeli artist Ana Clara left Argentina, her land of birth, as a young woman and followed the pull of her soul to return to the Jewish homeland, Israel.

Named for her two grandmothers, both artists, it seems inevitable that Ana Clara would find her calling as an artist. She attended Betzalel in Jerusalem, Israel’s leading art school. Not only did she refine her artistic style, but she had the good fortune to meet the man who became her husband.

After graduation and a joyful wedding, Ana Clara and Javier moved to the Samarian settlement of Kfar Adumim, located on the edge of the Judean Desert. Under the vast blue skies, they established their art studio. (Javier is a metal artist) Ana Clara loved the freedom of expression she found through modern art and decided to see how she could integrate that with the traditional art of ceramics.

On the potter’s wheel and through glazing Ana Clara found a way to combine her passion for color, texture, and shape. She uses a unique technique of abstract glazing that allows for a colorful expression unique to each piece she creates.

Ana Clara and her husband are proud to be pioneers in Israel, helping to develop the land. Each of their four children has been named after a Jewish ancestor written about in the Bible. It gives them a feeling of joy and pride to raise their family in the heartland of Israel.
